TYB Bulletin - 5/5/22
80 Degrees OTW, Hillcrest Golf Center, Brien Davis Interview Coming, River Cup & River Cup Foundation
News . . .
. . . cooler temps the next few days, with rain, then a little warmer over this Mother’s Day weekend. Supposed to see 82 Monday, 91 (!) Tuesday, and mid-80’s to close out the week. 91!
The Tazewell County Amateur tournament ran this past weekend. You can view the leaderboard and final results here. Will be sitting for a podcast interview with tournament winner Brien Davis in the next day or so, and hope to have the podcast episode posted online by or before this Sunday.
The annual, and popular, Peoria Park District Spring Classic 4-player scramble was also last weekend at Newman Golf Course. Results were distributed by PPD Director of Golf Greg Walker, and you can download them at the link below, in case you are not on the PPD Golf email list.
Reminder that the annual glow golf (night golf) outing at Metamora Fields Golf Club is scheduled for Friday evening, May 20th. Contact the pro shop (309.367.4000) for details and registration info.
If you have any news related to golf within the Tri-County HOI area, please let me know with an email to theyardagebook@substack.com.
Articles and Updates . . .
There are a couple of new articles up — one providing a quick look at Hillcrest Golf Center in Washington, and the second providing a brief intro and overview of the River Cup and the River Cup Foundation.
The River Cup Foundation 22nd Charity Outing will be held at Peoria Country Club on Monday, May 23rd, 2022. See the River Cup article linked above for additional links to more information on sponsorships and registration.
More podcasts on the way. As mentioned above, an episode with Brien Davis should be up by or before Mother’s Day, followed by a couple of episodes with Scott Phegley (first episode to discuss Scott’s history and involvement in the local golf community, and second episode to focus on River Cup and River Cup Foundation).
If you know of someone in the Tri-County HOI golf community that you believe would be an interesting interview, please email their contact info and a brief description to theyardagebook@substack.com. Please use subject “Interview Suggestion”. I’ve received some really good suggestions and will be following up to get the interviews completed — keep them coming!
