Tazewell County Amateur and Spring Classic Scramble Tournaments, Kellogg Exec 9 and Fon du Lac Par 3 Reviews
News . . .
Weather . . . consensus opinion is that this spring has been difficult for golfers and golf course managers alike. Windy, cold, frequent rain, and often all three together. A majority of folks, when asked, believe we’ll jump from this to mid-90s and no breeze. (!)
The Tazewell County Amateur tournament ran this weekend, finishing the 2nd of 2 rounds today (5/1) at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin. You can view the leaderboard and final results here. There was intermittent rain and pop-up storms to contend with yesterday (Sat) and cold temps and wind to deal with today (Sun). Former tour pro (and reigning Peoria Men’s City Champ) Brien Davis came in first at +6, with Ed Whitaker and Scott Phegley tying for 2nd at +7.
The annual, and popular, Peoria Park District Spring Classic 4-player scramble was held yesterday (Sat) at Newman Golf Course. Will try to post winning teams/scores when they are made available.
Reminder that the annual glow golf (night golf) outing at Metamora Fields Golf Club is scheduled for Friday evening, May 20th. Contact the pro shop (309.367.4000) for details and registration info.

Articles and Updates . . .
I had the misfortune of catching a nasty cold this past week, which temporarily wrecked my voice and made it impossible to record any interviews. Expect to be back on track this week, with a new podcast out right around Mother’s Day.
If you know of someone in the Tri-County HOI golf community that you believe would be an interesting interview, please email their contact info and a brief description to theyardagebook@substack.com. Please use subject “Interview Suggestion”. I’ve received some really good suggestions and will be following up to get the interviews completed — keep them coming!
There are a couple of new articles up — the first of a number of reviews of golf courses within the Tri-County HOI area. The reviews are in no particular order, and to start, feature courses I have played or am playing with my resident junior golfer.
The first review is of the Kellogg Executive 9, and the second review is of Fon du Lac Par 3.
